Another feature film is being planned by IT professionals from
Technopark. After the release of ‘Padmavyooham’, directed by Bijoy P I
of SunTech, Kiran N S and Aabid of RMESI are getting ready with a new
film project. Interestingly, techies not only plan to handle the
technical side, but are also gearing up to use self-made equipment for
the film project.
“The film is based on a classic novel. The name of novel as well as that of the film will be disclosed later. Now, the script has been completed,” said Kiran. The film will be produced under the banner Red Ray productions and the cost will be met by a group of friends from Technopark.
“We are planning all ways to reduce the production cost. One way is by using the DSLR camera. Since it has a small size, we are tying to make related equipment. Already, we have made a steadicam with the help of YouTube videos. A jib is getting ready,” said Kiran. Here, their engineering skills seem to have helped the techies in realising their dream of budget film-making.
Their production company Red Ray productions has made a ‘casting call’ to select actors for the film and a screen test is planned within 3-5 days.
“We have got queries from several interested persons. Most of the queries are from techies aged between 20-25. However, we need people aged between 20-40,” Kiran said. Kiran said 90 per cent of those behind and in front of the cameras would be techies.
Kiran and Aabid had won the best director award in the ‘Qisa film festival 2012’ held in Technopark. Competing with 21 short film-makers in Technopark, Kiran and Aabid won the award for ‘The Appointment.’ Both are experienced in making short films and albums.
‘Qisa film festival’, organised by Technopark-based cultural organisation Prathidhwani a few months ago, was a big hit with more than 20 techie directors presenting their short films for the competition.
