THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Wedding cards have seen so many innovations - in the form of writing, designs, colour and texture. Nowadays, youths are preferring e-cards to invite friends for their wedding. E-cards offer a slew of options, including photo gallery, route maps and even space for posting wishes. Those who dare to make it more innovative have added one more feature - live video streaming.
The marriage of a city-based youth went live online through the wedding website created by his friends. When Muralee Krishna, an employee of a Technopark firm, was tying the nuptial knot, his relative who was unable to attend the function was seeing it live from Dubai. Photos too were uploaded within half-an-hour, making it impossible for anyone to say they missed the function.
N V Vineesh Kumar and his friends, colleagues of Muralee at Ernst & Young, stumbled upon the idea of creating a website during their search to find a perfect gift for Muralee’s wedding. The website was created with various options, including maps to locate the place and photos. Ideas of more and more options followed, which finally led to live video streaming.
Geared up with cameras, laptops and websites, Murali’s friends Vineesh, Mohammed Shafi, Mohammed Rafi, Melvin John, Sreekant, Sujith and Sudheer took ‘strategic’ positions on the stage on the wedding day on January 30. They ensured that wedding moments are  available live on  http://muraleewedsshalini.com from 9.30 am onwards. Apart from this, they sent bulk sms to popularise the website, enabling others to wish the couple through the site. The idea became an instant hit among many youths, who are actively discussing about the such websites in discussion forums.
Vijesh, who has also created a website for his marriage scheduled for  February 23, said that the trend of using a website for marriage has been  popular for more than a year. He created the website using a free template. “By paying more, you will get a attractive website with more options,” he opined.
Not just the IT guys, the wedding websites are popular among others too. That is mainly because of the presence of a number of websites offering free templates. Websites www.invity.com, www.mywedding.com, www.ewedding.com, www.ourwedding.in and www.webvivah.com are offering free and paid templates to create online wedding cards.
