THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the ‘Will you vote’ survey held before the Assembly elections last year, the techies are back with another political referendum. The techie survey this time has appraised the UDF Government, which is completing its first year next month. Through his workaholic nature, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has emerged as the most popular Minister in the survey, conducted by the Technopark-based community website TechnoparkToday.com.

As many as 64.5 per cent of the participants  termed Chandy as a pro-people Minister. K B Ganesh Kumar is the runner-up, but enjoys the support of just 17.3 per cent of the participants. Shibu Baby John and M K Muneer are the other popular Ministers of the UDF.

Technopark has almost equal supporters and opponents for the incumbent government. While 57 per cent supported the UDF Government, 43 per cent opposed it.

Almost 56 per cent of the techies are satisfied with the performance of the Ministry of IT. The Public Works Department (PWD) is the highest performing department, according to the techies. Transport and Labour are the other departments which scored well in the survey.

Most of the techies gave ‘A-plus’ grade to the CM, who has gained much popularity through his mass contact programmes. As many as 27.63 per cent of the techies gave the top grade to  Chandy, while 24 per cent gave him ‘A’ grade. He got ‘B-plus’ grade from 19 per cent of the participants.

Though the UDF attracted many supporters during the survey, the comments were a bit harsh against the Government. Especially in the wake of the controversy that erupted after the induction of the fifth IUML Minister in  Cabinet. Some termed the Congress as a ‘’communal organisation that pretends to be secular.’’

‘’The Government needs to look for overall development of the State, rather than limiting it to two or three districts like Ernakulam, Kottayam or Malappuram,” went another comment.

More than 500 employees, including CEOs, Managers, IT, ITeS and BPO employees, participated in the survey. The participants attended the survey through the Technopark-based community website and various social media.
