THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The seventh edition of ‘Tech-a-break’, the much-anticipated cultural extravaganza of Technopark, will be held during May 19-25. Days of fun and excitement await techies when they take a break from the usual hectic work to indulge in entertainment.

The highlight of ‘Tech-a-break’ is a colourful rally, where techies dress in various attires based on a particular theme. This year, there are two themes - ‘tribals’ and ‘kindergarten’. Scores of techies are expected to participate in the rally, where they move in a procession to the cricket ground in Technopark.

Last year’s theme was ‘Polka dots’ and hundreds of techies participated in the procession wearing dress with polka dots of varied sizes and hues.

There will be an open air disco in the night where techies could unleash a nightlong dance party. A thrilling contest is expected when  techies sing for the title of ‘Techies Super Star Singers.’ Only one team from each company can attend this group song contest.

Interestingly, the participants have to sing in tune with a visual karaoke track. In addition to the song, choreography, audience interaction and body language will be judged.

Another interesting competition which awaits techies is the funny skit contest. Four to twelve persons can be part of the theme. Using music, dance, skit, mime or anything, the techies will have to make the audience laugh.

Tech-a-break gives a platform for the dancers in techies. In the group dance contest, what counts are the costume, presentation, choreography, synchronisation, variety of steps used, presentation and audience interaction.

There is room for fun sports and games. Solo song competition, quiz programme, tug-of-war etc too are part of Tech-a-break. Solo song will be held in three categories - classical, western and light music. Not just techies, the Tech-a-break will be fun time for their kids too.

A drawing-painting competition for kids  will be held on April 19.
