The city will soon have a first-hand experience of the Israeli martial art Krav Maga. The self-defence system, which is popular worldwide especially owing to its real-life situations, will be made familiar by Vicky Kapoor, the country’s topmost trainer in Krav Maga.
The Kerala chapter of the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) will be organising a seven-day boot camp in the city during August 20-26. Vicky Kapoor and his team will give one-to-one combat lessons to the participants. The team will bring a number of equipment, including protective gear, for the training sessions. From the basic practitioner level P-1, training will be given till P-3 in seven days.
“Age, fitness or sex will not be an issue for attending the training. Krav Maga is the simplest form of self-defence. It has simple rules which will equip one with physical and mental fitness to face any situation,” said Anu V Nambalikkaran, head of the Kerala chapter of IKMF. Anu said the seven-day training will impart skills on a par with that of a Karate black belt holder. “One of the advantages of Krav Maga is that its simple rules and real-life situations will help to react whenever there is a need.
Other organised marital art forms have specific rules which might not help during an urgent situation,” he said.
Krav Maga is not a competition sport, but a basic and effective technique to deal with the common attacker or street hooligan having no morals.
Those who are unable to attend the one-week camp have the option to attend on single or multiple days. Fee for seven days is ` 21,000. Fee per day is ` 3,000. Contact Anu at 9447079852 or mail to KravMagaTrivandrum@gmail.com for registration, which will close on Friday.
In addition to training, IKMF is conducting seminars on specific threat scenarios such as women’s self-defence, car jacking defence tactics, gun defence tactics, home defence tactics etc.
Vicky Kapoor and his team will be in the city from August 19 to 27. Vicky has imparted Krav Maga training to those ranging from commandos to civilians.
