As Technopark gears up for a short film competition exclusively for
techies, more and more movie makers are emerging from the techie
community. Interestingly, most of the short films are novel in terms of
concept and presentation. The latest one is ‘6 Minutes’, made by a group
of techies under the banner ‘Superfeetz.’
‘6 Minutes’ is a suspense film essaying an incident that happened in six minutes, which brings unimaginable changes to the lives of a group of friends. Directed by Prajith P, an employee of NeST, the film is a joint effort of a group of eight friends - Adarsh and Rakesh of IBS Software Services, Anand of Qburst, Dipu of Mobatia Technology Pvt Ltd, Hiren of IIC web solutions, Jeffin of Intelligo Technologies and Prabin of Exalt Integral Solutions, apart from Prajith.
Prajith conceptualised the theme and wielded the camera.
The film begins with the lead character, Freddy, undergoing a deja vu experience. The opening scenes are indicators to the climax, but the makers succeed in keeping the suspense till the end. “This film mainly aims at giving a message to the youth who take everything in life so lightly,” said Prajith.
Freddy is effortlessly played by Dipu. Adarsh, Anand, Hiren and Jeffin enacted the supporting roles.
“We worked for about two months, but only during weekends. Planning, script, dialogue preparation and shoot were completed in two weeks,” Prajith said. The dialogues were jointly written by Adarsh, Anand and Hiren.
‘6 Minutes’ is the maiden film venture of the group. Prajith has previous experience in making a magazine video, ‘A Journey from Punalur to Sengottai.’ He used Canon HD handycam for making the short film. The group sought professional support for dubbing and other post-production works.
‘6 Minutes’ is all set to compete with other short films from Technopark in the upcoming Qisa short film festival, organised by the Technopark-based cultural form Pratidhwani.
Meanwhile, the team ‘Superfeetz’ has begun discussions for its next project. This time, Jenin, an employee of Toonz Animation, has joined them. “We plan to do some works with technical support from Jenin,” Prajith said.
‘6 Minutes’ is available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Va4kifBCxU.
